Viking Day at Tatton Park
Lesson: History
Class: Year 5 Year: 2026 - 2027
Year 5 had a fantastic day at Tatton Park learning about the Vikings today. We learnt so much about Viking life and it was like stepping back in time. In one session, the children practised defending themselves using shields and various defensive formations. In another session, the children learnt all about Viking hunting techniques and what the diet of a typical Viking consisted of. Next, the children practised winnowing to separate edible grain from the husks and the chaff. In the other session, the children learnt a Viking braiding technique and made bracelets.
Huge thank you to the wonderful Sherwood families who helped to provide costumes for the children. Your effort is greatly appreciated. The staff at Tatton said that it was the best effort at dressing up they had ever seen from a visiting school!
