Dance
At Sherwood, our Dance curriculum forms part of our Curriculum for Physical Education. Throughout the Key Stages, pupils are taught to perform dances using a range of movement patterns. A broad and balanced dance education curriculum is intended to provide for pupils’ increasing self-confidence in their ability to manage themselves and their bodies within a variety of movement. The activities offered and the teaching approaches adopted seek to provide pupils with opportunities to develop their creative and expressive abilities, through improvisation and structured routines. Quality links are made across the Curriculum to support the delivery of our Dance Curriculum.
Each year we take part in competitive dance opportunities through the School Games Dance Competition. Sherwood has built a strong reputation, not only in Preston but across Lancashire, for the high participation, standards and dedication to dance. We are Sherwood!
DANCE AUDITIONS 2025-2026
Mrs Lovejoy will lead our auditions during PE lessons w/b 6th October 2025. All children that wish to audition are asked to learn a short piece of choreography, followed by their own moves/dancing. Please follow the choreography video below and then add your own choreography. Children are asked to learn the choreography at home (and on the playground) ahead of auditions please.
Once our Team has been selected, dance rehearsals will commence on Thursday mornings 8-8.45am to prepare for the Preston Primary Dance Competition.
