Pupil Wellbeing Champions

Welcome from the Pupil Wellbeing Champions
At Sherwood, we believe that all our voices matter, especially when it comes to feeling happy, safe, and supported. Our Pupil Wellbeing Champions are caring, thoughtful pupils who work together to promote kindness, inclusion, and emotional wellbeing across the school. They meet regularly to share ideas, listen to their classmates, and help create a positive environment where everyone can thrive. Through fun activities, helpful initiatives, and peer support, the Champions plays a vital role in making our school a place where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

February 2026

Our meeting today focused on the recent NSPCC assemblies that had taken place in classes this week. We discussed the assemblies had been useful to remind ourselves of how to 'Speak Out and Stay Safe'. The children shared it was useful having the NSPCC number in our diaries. Some champions thought it would be useful to make posters to display in classrooms, with key messages and the Childline number. They also felt our 'Worry Monsters' and 'Worry Boxes' should have a bigger profile in class, with some children unsure where theirs' were. It was agreed that the champions would make new 'suggestion boxes' as they felt these had been forgotten since the school council had been disolved.

December 2025

Our meeting today focused around our pupil wellbeing during break and lunchtimes. We discussed what is already in place to support us. This included:

  • The quiet area of the playground where we can talk, draw, colour, read.

  • The Activity Trail where we can climb and balance.

  • Organised games and activities

  • Staff to help and support

  • Benches to sit quietly or with friends

  • Storytelling chair to share stories

We then explored some of the ideas we would like to introduce to help with our wellbeing even more. These included:

  • Puzzles and board games area

  • Library visits available during break

  • Bug hotel in the outdoor area to access at break

Our Champions have now been set the task of finding out what their classmates think would help and exploring some ideas. We look forward to hearing their thoughts at our next meeting and implementing some ideas.

November 2025

Today was our first meeting to launch the Pupil Wellbeing Team. We firstly introduced ourselves and told the team one thing that we do to support our own wellbeing. Ideas included colouring, reading, singing and sleeping! We then explored our focus for the following weeks and discussed where we can make a positive difference. Ideas included:

  • Being a kind and caring role model

  • Worry monster or box in all classes as well as an area to support happiness and wellbeing

  • Developments for the quiet area of the playground

  • Surveying our classmates to explore what supports their wellbeing.

Well done Wellbeing Champions. A really positive start for our team!
