Oracy in Science

Class: Year 6 Year: 2025 - 2026

This week, Year 6 began a new Science unit - Classificiation. 

They used their Oracy skills to learn the features of Mammals, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds and Fish. Each child had to walk around repeating the features of their 'group' before verbally sharing these with a partner. They repeated the activity until they could fluently explain the different features of each group. Over the next few weeks, the children will use this knowledge to create classification keys and sort creatures into groups.
