History through our oracy learning

Lesson: History

Class: Year 4 Year: 2025 - 2026

This week in History the Year 4's were given the task to discuss the question, 'Why did the Romans leave Britain?'. The children were asked to consider this question and discuss in small groups using oracy techniques. Some took the roles of instigator, builder, challenger and summariser. For each point made the children then built cube towers to show each point made and was added to if they then added to this point with new towers started for each different point made. The children enjoyed exploring these roles and gained greater understanding of the reasons behind the Romans leaving.
