Bird Hide Building

Lesson: Learning Outside the Classroom

Class: Year 4 Year: 2024 - 2025

Inspired by the main character in their current class novel Twitch, Year 4 have been to Mason Wood to build bird hides using sticks and tarpaulins. When they were built, we sat quietly in our hides and did some birdwatching. We spotted blackbirds, robins, rock doves, pigeons, magpies, blue-tits and even a nuthatch! We also spotted wild garlic and English bluebells. That's some of our 'Identify 25 in 25' ticked off!

Over the next two weeks, we will be creating a setting opening for our own adventure story based on Twitch and inspired by the sights, sounds and smells of Mason Wood.
