Bird hide building in Mason’s Wood

Lesson: Learning Outside the Classroom

Class: Year 4 Year: 2025 - 2026

Inspired by their class novel Twitch, Year 4 visited Mason's Wood this morning to explore the flora and fauna, and to build bird hides. They spotted English bluebells, wild garlic, blackbirds, wood pigeons and much more. They used sticks and tarpaulins to build their bird hides, then sat quietly and watched for birds. Back in class in the afternoon, we mapped out the woods which we will use to write a narrative setting in English.
