Sherwood Spelling Bee 2023

We are very excited to hold our annual ‘Spelling Bee’ once again, this half term. Every child in school will take part in a series of spelling challenges, with the opportunity to win points for their Houses and individual prizes.

There will be a series of Rounds, with Round 1 taking place the week beginning 19th June. Children in Foundation and Year 1 will take part in challenges within their daily phonics groups. The children in Years 2 to 6 will complete spelling challenges, based on the common exception words (Y2) and statutory word lists (Y3 to Y6) for their relevant year group, which they have been learning throughout the year in class.

These spelling challenges will help each class to find ‘Star Bees’ who will represent their Houses in inter-house challenges during the week beginning 26th June. The winners of this round, will go through to represent their house in the final. Which house will be crowned champions this year?
