Chickens, guinea pigs and other animals!

We believe looking after animals helps the children develop a real sense of responsibility and awareness of the world around them.

We regulary hatch our own chicks in Foundation and keep them in our wonderfully, adventurous hen run. Children from Rotakids sell the eggs in aid of children in Nepal. Children from across the school clean and feed the chickens. Some children have enjoyed developing their social skills by working with others from across age groups to collect eggs.

We also keep gerbils, tropical and cold water fish and guinea pigs - all cared for, and loved by, children across the school during lunchtimes. They have often supported informal play therapy and given some children a chance for quiet reflection during our busy days.

Contact Mr. Sutcliffe if you would like to help look after any of our animals during the holidays. Eggs can be purchased from the Infant Playground before and after school.
