Written Calculations
There are often many ways of doing a written calculation for the four number operations. We encourage all children to try to use a mental methods where appropriate, but sometimes they will need to use a written method.
We often get parents asking why we don't use certain methods that they used at school, it is not we do not use them - we will only use a method when a child is secure of a different method before moving to an abstract written calculation.
