Welcome to Year Three

We really hope your children enjoy their time in this important transition year into Juniors. You will find a wealth of information on the class pages and photos of activities. Keep visiting! The half termly newsletter will also tell you what we are going to be learning about.

Top tips for the year:

1. Keep reading at home and sign yellow reading records. When your child finishes a book from the reading scheme, please sign to say they have finished reading it with you.  They may be asked to complete a reading activity before their book is changed.  This is because it is much more important that your child actually understands the books they are reading rather than how quickly they are reading the books in the school reading scheme.

2. Complete and return homework tasks no later than Wednesday each week. Keep presentation tip top and have a go! Speak to us if there are any ongoing issues with homework. Learning spellings, times tables and reading are ongoing -so keep going with that!

3. Year Three needs stamina! We do so many new things and the work can be both fun and challenging. Your child will study art, science, PE, maths, english, guided reading, mental maths, history, geography, computing, religious studies and more. Make sure the children are rested, ready and organised. Bring in a healthy snack for break times and a bottle of fresh water. Please be aware that we don’t post an exact timetable for each week on the website because we are also very responsive to the pace of learning and the children’s needs. All class teachers work closely together to ensure consistency across the year group.

Don’t forget to get in touch at any time! Just because we are now Juniors doesn’t mean the teacher is too ‘grown up’ to have regular chats about progress and concerns.
